Once again, we were able to demonstrate our flexibility and passion for special constructions! For the new construction of several waste heat boilers, we had the opportunity to contribute our experience to an interesting project. Initially, we received a request for four container sight glasses for welding ends.
At first, this sounds like nothing special, but when we examined the request and the associated requirements more closely, it quickly became clear to us that we had to offer our customer a solution that was specifically tailored to his requirements and technically sensible.
The unit adjacent to the waste heat boiler was made of temperature-resistant stainless steel, and the sight glass was made of natural quartz glass. Quartz glass is excellent for high-temperature applications. The sealing to the waste heat boiler was implemented using a special high-temperature flat gasket. The upper and lower units were insulated with the help of a protective cover.
Since an explosion-proof sight glass lamp was installed in the interior, sufficient temperature control and cooling of the interior space had to be ensured. The sight glass lamp used may be exposed to maximum ambient temperatures of up to +40°C.
We were able to ensure sufficient cooling of the interior space by supplying barrier air. Since the installation of the container sight glasses took place in a potentially explosive work area, we provided all components with mounting holes as grounding connections. Thus, the complete fitting could be integrated into the equipotential bonding system.
