Product information

The pipe sight glass Type 622 is a compact flow sight glass with female thread for 360° visual inspection of liquid and gaseous media in piping systems. Thanks to the transparent borosilicate glass cylinder, the fitting provides a complete all-round view of the process medium and supports reliable observation of flow, colour, turbidity and process condition.

Unlike pipe sight glasses with flange connection, Type 622 is integrated directly into the piping system via female threads according to DIN EN ISO 228-1. This makes the fitting particularly suitable for applications where a space-saving, screw-in version with complete visibility of the medium is required.

Type 622 is designed for the nominal pressure rating PN 16 and, depending on the version, enables operating pressures up to max. 16 barg. The available nominal sizes range from NPS 3/8" to 2" and therefore cover compact connection sizes in industrial piping systems.

Material selection & options

The pipe sight glass Type 622 is manufactured in the standard version from stainless steel 1.4571. For less demanding applications, Type 622 can optionally be supplied with connection bodies made of P265GH. For special media, temperature or process requirements, special materials such as Hastelloy®, duplex steels or other high-performance alloys are also available on request.

The transparent glass cylinder is made of borosilicate glass 3.3 according to DIN ISO 3585. This enables the pipe sight glass to provide a complete 360° view of the medium and supports direct visual inspection of flow, colour, turbidity or foam formation.

For sealing, numerous flat gasket materials are available. These include PTFE, NBR, novaphit® MST-XP, KlingerSil® C4400 and other gasket materials for different media, temperature and pressure requirements.

Optional impact protection jackets are available for installation situations with increased mechanical risk. An impact protection jacket made of PETg or perforated sheet metal protects the borosilicate glass cylinder against external impact, for example when installed below walkways or in exposed plant areas.

Application areas

The pipe sight glass Type 622 is used in piping systems where liquid or gaseous media need to be visually inspected directly via a compact threaded version.

Thanks to the female threaded connections, the fitting is particularly suitable for applications where a pipe sight glass without flange connection is to be screwed into a pipeline. The complete all-round view through the borosilicate glass cylinder enables assessment of flow, colour, turbidity, foam formation or media condition during operation.

Typical applications include process engineering plants, chemical and pharmaceutical processes, food and beverage applications, water and wastewater technology, energy plants as well as general plant and apparatus engineering.

Thanks to its compact threaded design, Type 622 can also be integrated where installation space is limited. The virtually dead-space-free version can be advantageous for applications with increased process hygiene requirements.

FAQs

The tubular sight glass type 622 is designed for visual flow monitoring in pipeline systems. It is suitable for liquid and gaseous media and, thanks to the transparent borosilicate glass cylinder, enables a full 360° view of the process medium.

The borosilicate glass cylinder provides a complete all-round view of the medium. This allows flow, color, turbidity, foaming or process condition to be reliably assessed directly in the pipeline.

Type 622 is screwed directly into the piping system using an internal thread to DIN EN ISO 228-1. This makes the fitting particularly suitable for compact installation situations and pipelines with a threaded connection.

Type 622 is designed for nominal pressure rating PN 16. The maximum operating pressure is 16 barg.

The tubular sight glass type 622 is available in nominal sizes NPS 3/8\", 1/2\", 3/4\", 1\", 1 1/2\" and 2\".

The standard version of the tubular sight glass is manufactured with connection bodies made of stainless steel 1.4571. Optional versions in P265GH as well as special materials such as Hastelloy®, duplex steels or other high-performance alloys are available on request.

For type 622, options include special lengths, impact protection jackets made of PETg or perforated sheet, special materials and application-specific custom designs. These options are intended to adapt the tubular sight glass to special installation situations, mechanical loads or process requirements.
