The high-pressure sight glass Type 522 is a robust flow sight glass with female thread for industrial high-pressure applications. The sight glass is screwed directly into piping systems via female threaded connections and enables visual inspection and/or illumination of liquid and gaseous media.
The fitting is available with female threaded connections according to DIN EN ISO 228-1 as BSP thread or according to ANSI B 1.20.1 as NPT thread. This allows Type 522 to be integrated into European and international piping systems in accordance with the relevant standards.
The flow sight glass covers the nominal pressure ratings PN 63, PN 100, PN 160, PN 250, PN 320 and PN 400 and is designed for demanding processes under high operating pressures.
The high-pressure flow sight glass Type 522 is designed for demanding process conditions. The robust body is manufactured as standard from stainless steel 1.4571 and is engineered for permanently high pressure and temperature loads.
For particularly aggressive or thermally highly stressed media, special materials such as nickel-based alloys or Hastelloy are possible. This allows the flow sight glass to be adapted to chemical, thermal and process-related requirements.
The two viewing windows are made of thermally pre-stressed borosilicate glass according to DIN 7080.
Optional mica protection screens are available for Type 522 for increased temperature loads.
The high-pressure sight glass Type 522 is typically used in piping systems, process engineering plants and industrial high-pressure processes with liquid or gaseous media.
Thanks to the female threaded connections, the fitting is particularly suitable for applications where a compact high-pressure flow sight glass is to be screwed directly into a threaded pipeline. Depending on the version, BSP or NPT threads are possible.
Type 522 is suitable, among other applications, for use in the chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, food industry and energy industry. When better visibility of flow, colour, turbidity or process condition is required, the medium can be specifically illuminated.

The Type 522 sight glass is designed for industrial high-pressure applications in pipeline systems and process engineering plants. It is suitable for visual flow monitoring or illumination of liquid and gaseous media.
Type 522 covers the pressure ratings PN 63, PN 100, PN 160, PN 250, PN 320 and PN 400. This makes the flow sight glass suitable for demanding applications with high operating pressures.
Type 522 is screwed directly into the pipeline via internal thread connections. Depending on the version, threads according to DIN EN ISO 228-1 as BSP threads or according to ANSI B 1.20.1 as NPT threads are possible.
The two opposing viewing windows allow process observation from both sides and provide additional flexibility in confined installation situations. The medium can be selectively illuminated to better assess flow, color, turbidity or process condition.
Mica protective screens are available for Type 522 for elevated temperature requirements. In addition, special materials and application-specific custom designs can be examined on request to adapt the high-pressure sight glass to specific process requirements.
