Quartz glass – high-performance material for extreme requirements

Quartz glass (SiO₂), also known as silica glass, is an indispensable material for numerous high-tech applications in industry, research, and development. It impresses with its extraordinary temperature and chemical resistance as well as its optical properties – and that is exactly why it is used in particularly demanding areas of application.

Due to its extremely low thermal expansion coefficient, quartz glass is particularly resistant to temperature fluctuations. It withstands temperatures of up to 1000 °C and is only attacked by very few chemicals – such as hydrofluoric acid or concentrated phosphoric acid. This outstanding material property makes quartz glass an ideal solution for high-temperature applications.

A fundamental distinction is made between natural quartz glass and synthetic quartz glass (also referred to as fused silica or fused quartz glass).

  • Natural quartz glass (QZN-F) is produced by melting finely ground rock crystal under a hydrogen-oxygen flame. It is characterized in particular by its excellent UV transmission.

  • Synthetic quartz glass (QZS-F) is obtained from high-purity silicon tetrachloride (SiCl₄) in a special flame pyrolysis process. This process ensures highest material purity, minimal inclusions, and particularly constant optical properties – ideal for precise applications in the UV, visible and infrared range.

In addition to its thermal and chemical resistance, quartz glass impresses with its excellent light transmission. Therefore, it is preferably used in optical applications – for example, in the observation of high-temperature processes such as monitoring combustion chambers or in the production of optical components for analytics and laser technology.

We offer you quartz glass in various designs – entirely according to your needs:

  • Plates in round, square, or tongue-shaped (oval) geometry

  • Pipes, cylinders, and glass rings in various sizes and tolerances

Whether for laboratory needs, industrial processes, or precise optical applications – with our quartz glass products you receive a high-quality material that works reliably even under extreme conditions.
