The glass ring pipe sight glass Type 640 is a compact wafer-type version for 360° visual inspection of liquid and gaseous media in piping systems. The transparent glass ring provides a complete all-round view of the medium and supports visual assessment of filling, flow, throughput, colour, turbidity and process condition.
Installation takes place between flanges according to DIN EN 1092-1. In the standard version, the glass ring is made of thermally pre-stressed borosilicate glass and is designed for operating temperatures from – 200 °C to max. 280 °C. Depending on nominal size, material and version, operating pressures up to max. 16 barg are possible.
Thanks to its compact design, the glass ring pipe sight glass can also be retrofitted into existing plants. With appropriate design, virtually dead-space-free integration into the pipeline is possible.
The glass ring pipe sight glass Type 640 is manufactured in the standard version from thermally pre-stressed borosilicate glass.
Sealing is achieved using application-specific flat gaskets between the glass ring and flange connection.
The glass ring pipe sight glass Type 640 is used in piping systems where a very compact 360° visual inspection of the medium between two flanges is required. Thanks to the short wafer-type design, the fitting is particularly suitable for plant areas with limited installation space.
The transparent glass ring enables direct assessment of filling, flow, throughput, colour, turbidity, foam formation or media condition during operation. This allows the glass ring sight glass to be used for visual process monitoring without having to plan for a longer pipe sight glass with a separate glass cylinder.
Typical applications include process engineering plants, chemical processes, food and beverage applications, water and wastewater technology, energy plants as well as general plant and apparatus engineering.

The glass-ring tubular sight glass type 640 is designed for visual process and flow monitoring in pipeline systems. It is suitable for liquid and gaseous media and, thanks to the transparent glass ring, enables a complete 360° view of the medium.
Type 640 is installed as an intermediate-flange design between flanges according to DIN EN 1092-1. This allows the fitting to be integrated compactly into existing flange connections.
Type 640 is designed for the pressure rating PN 16. Depending on the nominal size, material and design, operating pressures of up to max. 16 barg are possible. For larger nominal sizes or different materials, the permissible operating pressure may be lower.
The glass-ring tubular sight glass type 640 is available in nominal sizes DN 10 to DN 500. Other sizes, face-to-face lengths and flange standards are available on request.
The glass-ring design enables an especially compact 360° view directly between two flanges. This allows the medium to be observed without installing a longer tubular sight glass with a separate glass cylinder.
