Product information

Our round sight glasses type 318V are welded onto or into container walls to allow observation or illumination of the container interior. ACI sight glasses of type 318V are designed based on DIN 28120 for vacuum applications up to -0.9 barg and for an operating pressure of 2.5 barg. In doing so, a sight glass made of chemically highly resistant borosilicate glass DIN 7080 (or according to customer specifications) is clamped between two high-quality stainless steel flanges and proven quality seals. The vacuum seal is achieved on the media side via sealing rings.

Compared to the design specified in DIN 28120, our type 318V is noticeably flatter and lighter. With seals specifically designed for vacuum applications, type 318V offers a cost-effective alternative for low operating pressures, perfectly filling the application range between our type 317 for unpressurized operation and the sturdier variant type 320 for operating pressures up to 16 barg.

Despite the lower requirements compared to DIN 28120, our sight glasses of type 318V are made from the same high-quality stainless steel 1.4571 (316Ti) that our customers have appreciated for years. The glass material used is the industry-proven borosilicate glass according to DIN 7080. The sealing of the fitting is done with sealing rings tailored for vacuum applications according to DIN 11851 or O-rings from an extensive range of materials such as PTFE (Teflon®), NBR, HNBR, FKM, FFKM, PEEK, EPDM, or silicone.

Should the borosilicate glass according to DIN 7080 not meet your requirements, or the process conditions pose a problem even for the highly resistant borosilicate glass, we offer FEP or Halar® coatings for aggressive chemicals or lyes .

Like other sight glass fittings, type 318V can be equipped upon request with a sight glass wiper type SGW, spray devices SVIII, or lights.
